What to Expect

Welcome to Willapa United Methodist Church (Willapa UMC). We are delighted that you are exploring our website and look forward to the possibility of meeting you! We know that checking out a new church can be a little intimidating, so here is some information that we hope will answer some questions you might have.

Do you have to be a Methodist to attend a Methodist Church?  No, all are welcome.  The Methodist motto is Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open doors.

Will I be pressured to join the church? No, we are just happy to have you join us in worship.

What do most people wear? People dress in a variety of ways from jeans and a T-shirt to a dress or slacks.  Just wear what you normally wear.

What should I expect when I enter the church? When you enter the church, you will be greeted by a member of the congregation who will give you a bulletin and introduce you to the Host for the week.  The Host will answer any questions you might have, show you around the facility, and accompany you into the sanctuary for worship.

What takes place during the worship service? Under the Resources heading above, you will find a sample bulletin that is created weekly for each service that outlines the service.

If communion is offered, should I take communion? Yes, the Methodist belief is that all are welcome to partake in communion, but do not feel you have to take communion.

Do you have Sunday school or Children’s Church for children. We do not currently have Sunday School or Children’s Church.  We love having the children in the worship service and have busy books available for several ages to enjoy during the service.  The children can take the book home with them to enjoy.

Do you offer any type of Bible study?  Yes.  look under Announcements  to see what is currently being offered.

After worship the congregation gathers for coffee, fellowship and snacks.  We would love to have you join us.
